Mepitel® Film is a thin, transparent, adhesive and breathable soft silicone film dressing designed for gentle application to fragile skin or over a primary dressing. Its transparent construction allows the covered area to remain visible without removing the film.

Each sterile dressing is supported by a paper application frame, helping make placement and smoothing easier. Mepitel Film may be applied by lay persons when under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Mepitel Film is not a wound contact layer and does not allow wound exudate to pass through to a secondary dressing. Appropriate wound and dressing selection should therefore be based on the individual wound and clinical guidance.

🔷 How to Apply

1. Cleanse the skin according to appropriate clinical practice.

2. Dry the skin thoroughly.

3. Remove the printed protective film.

4. Apply the adherent side to the fragile skin or primary dressing.

5. Smooth Mepitel Film into place to create a good seal. Do not stretch the dressing during application.

6. Remove the paper application frame.

For best results, the film should overlap the surrounding dry skin sufficiently to secure the dressing.

For sizes up to 10 × 12 cm, an overlap of at least 1–2 cm is recommended. Larger sizes should have approximately 5 cm of overlap.

If the edges begin to curl during wear, they may be gently trimmed to help extend wear time.

Mepitel Film is not a wound contact layer product. It does not allow wound exudate to pass through the film into a secondary dressing.

When multiple pieces of Mepitel Film are overlapped, vapour permeability is reduced. This can result in excess moisture being retained against the skin.

Mepitel Film should not be used as the primary fixation method for an IV cannula, port or other device.
